2025 Cookies, Cookies, Cookies Everyone had a wonderful time at the December 17th Neighbors of Pinehurst Christmas Cookie exchange! Thank you to Connie Heishman for organizing this fun event. Delicious lunch, fun games (with prizes) and of course cookies!

Harvest Dinner 2025 Neighbors of Pinehurst members came together for the annual Harvest Dinner — the final Dining Out event of 2025 — held at the Pine Crest Inn. Dining Out Co-Chairs extraordinaire, Cathy Slocum and Pat Sykora, once again knocked it out of the park with their planning and execution of this wonderful evening.
Liz Apodaca, NoP President, opened the event by warmly welcoming everyone and sharing a heartfelt message of gratitude for all members’ participation in the organization. She then reviewed the proposed slate of NoP Officers for 2026, followed by a voting session for approval. Liz also led a touching tribute to Sheila Henderson, honoring her retirement from the board and recognizing her many years of dedicated and meaningful service to NoP.
So fitting to close out 2025 by sharing photos that so perfectly capture the spirit of Neighbors of Pinehurst — a community of people coming together to form new friendships while cherishing old ones.
Photo Credits: A heartfelt thank you to our talented photographer and NoP member, Lana Coble, for her expert photography and for capturing the evening so beautifully.

Bookclub Bruncheon 2025
Neighbors of Pinehurst held their annual Bookclub Bruncheon on November 20 at Forest Creek Golf Club. Beth Carpenter and Kimberly Daniels Taws from The Country Bookshop opened the program with a lively review of staff picks and holiday gift recommendations.
Guusje Moore then introduced our guest speaker, local author Isabelle Guernica, writer of Obsidian & Silver and the newly released second book in her Gems & Glory series, Shackles of Gold. Isabelle shared an engaging overview of Romantasy—a wildly popular genre blending romance and fantasy, where a passionate central love story is interwoven with an epic world, high-stakes adventure, magic, and mythical creatures.
Hats off to the NOP book clubs, whose creativity shone through in this year’s table centerpieces, each inspired by their favorite book of 2025 and raising the bar for future events.
Kudos as well to Bookclub Bruncheon co-chairs Pat Keegan and Guusje Moore for organizing such a wonderful gathering. Our thanks to Forest Creek Golf Club’s Director of Clubhouse Operations, Mary Dutton, and the outstanding Forest Creek wait staff for providing a memorable experience.

The Neighbors of Pinehurst Ladies Duplicate Bridge Luncheon was held on September 29, 2025, at the Pinehurst Country Club. Members gathered for a delightful afternoon of good food, great conversation, and spirited bridge play. Special thanks to Bridge Chair Karen Fogle for organizing this enjoyable annual event. Congratulations to Karen Fogle and Chris Novack, the winning duo of the day!

Fall Progressive Dinner 2025

Neighbors of Pinehurst members recently enjoyed a Tuscany experience during the Fall Progressive Dinner – An Evening in Tuscany.  Meeting up first at the lovely home of Lana Coble & Guusje Moore for cocktails and appetizers, folks then went to their assigned Host homes to enjoy a delicious meal while getting to know fellow NoP members a bit better.    Kudos to Rosie & John O’Toole, Progressive Dinner Co-Chair for the planning and implementation of another wonderful event.

 Dining Out May 2025
The weather was perfect to enjoy the outside bar area at 195 American Fusion as a precursor to the spring Neighbors of Pinehurst Dining Out.  NoP members had a good time meeting new friends as well as enjoying existing friendships.  Then the call to dinner and we all moved inside where the fun and fellowship continued. Fabulous food, good service and great discussions – it doesn’t get any better.  Kudos to our amazing dining out co-chairs, Cathy Slocum and Pat Sykora – these ladies consistently knock it out of the park in providing a wonderful dining and fellowship experience.

Spring Progressive Dinner 2025
Neighbors of Pinehurst members marched with gusto into Spring at the Spring Progressive Dinner.  The absolutely weather perfect evening kicked off with cocktails and ever so creative appetizers at the beautiful home of Lana Coble and Guusje Moore. Conversations flowed as members had a good time meeting new friends as well as renewing old friendships. Then on to our assigned dinner host homes where the conversations continued over a scrumptious dinner capped off with hummingbird cake (a key point of conversation at the cocktail party by all those that made these incredible cakes.).  Such a very fun time was had by all.  Major kudos to Progressive Dinner chair Rosie O’Toole for bringing back this fun event and knocking it out of the park with this Spring edition.  Everyone is already looking forward to the Fall Dinner.

Dining Out Spring 2025
Neighbors of Pinehurst kicked off their 2025 Dining Out season with dinner at the Sly Fox in Southern Pines.  A sold-out event, members enjoyed live music while partaking of drinks along with bites from Charcuterie Boards positioned throughout our dining area before settling down to dinner in the British pub style atmosphere.  Kudos to Dining Out Co-Chairs Cathy Slocum and Pat Sykora for pulling out all the stops to make this a memorable dining experience.  Big thanks to ALL that came out to dine and enjoy good conversation and fellowship.
